In my time as a fashion editor, I've come to know the few items worth splurging on, and the many that you can shop on a budget. So, when I'm in need of a basics re-vamp, I turn to expensive looking high street or Amazon buys. With the buzz around Amazon Prime Day, I combed the site in search of those tried-and-true wardrobe pillars that I know will see me through the season and beyond—some of which are majorly discounted.
Having done my due diligence yet again this time around, I have to admit that this year's selection is one of the best I've seen. Spanning Levi 501s, Salomon trainers, classic flat shoes and chic dresses, the variety on offer is enough to update my basics collection from top to bottom, completing my capsule wardrobe in the process.

Amazon Prime Day is a two-day sale event exclusively for Amazon Prime members where you can find discounts on key purchases—everything from televisions to trending handbags. Today is the first day of the sale that includes beauty and fashion buys as well as tech and homeware goods. Basically, whatever your heart desires.

Amazon Prime Day is a bi-annual event that runs in July and October each year. We will let you know as soon as we find out the next dates.
