If You Think Neutrals Are "Boring", These 5 Cream Winter Outfits Will Change Your Mind
Whether it's a cream scarf-coat layered over wide-leg trousers, or a knit with a sleek wool skirt, these are the monochromatic neutral outfits that will earn you compliments this winter.

As someone who regularly wears taupe, sand and rust tones, I'm always surprised when I hear someone describe neutrals as "boring". Of course, if you're used to saturated styling and naturally gravitate toward punchy hues, I can understand how an all-beige outfit could feel a tad lacklustre. But I'm also convinced that camel is just about the chicest shade on the colour wheel, and along with its fellow warm neutrals or cream and beige, it can look incredibly expensive.
We're all familiar with the expression "less is more". While there's certainly a place for maximalist dressing, sticking to a low-key colour palette is the secret to looking put-together with minimal effort. In fact, some of the most impactful outfits I've saved on Instagram lately consist of just two or three muted shades. Once you have this base, you can then elevate it with touches of gold-toned jewellery and luxury accessories. Simple.
To kick-start your neutrals journey, I've assembled five easy-to-wear look below. You won't spot any pops of colour here—hopefully you'll agree that these particular ensembles don't need it, they're interesting enough.

1. Scarf Coat + Tailored Trousers + Courts
Style Notes: The true beauty of neutrals is that they go so seamlessly together. So if you get a cream coat—in Emmanuelle's case, a scarf style—then it's guaranteed to go with all your existing outfits. To keep it polished, though, team with sleek beige trousers and courts for an easy work look that'll never fail.

2. Roll Neck Knit + Midi Skirt + Heels
Style Notes: When you're rushing out the door and you don't have time to start coordinating colours, stick to ecru versions of your everyday go-tos. A jumper-and-skirt combo in this palette never fails, and you only need to look at Lydia's ensemble for proof.

3. Long Coat + Nice Top + Wide-Leg Trousers
Style Notes: You read that right—light neutrals can work after-dark, too. Opt for evening fabrics like a silk top with luxe trousers and classic heels. No one wants to get cold on a night out, so just add a longline oversized coat in a similar shade to complete the vibe.
Shop the Look:
4. Funnel Neck Jacket + Net Dress + Trousers
Style Notes: When it comes to making a neutral colour palette exciting, it's all about adding fun elements. See how Hannah has added a net dress over wide-leg trousers as an extra layer underneath her of-the-moment funnel neck jacket? The texture adds a whole new level of interest and a real fashion insider feel.
Shop the Look:
5. Trouser Suit + Satin Shirt + Suede Flats
Style Notes: A trouser suit is a workwear hero, and it looks even more polished when combined with textures like satin and suede—as seen on Julie. To take it away from the office, switch to a fine knit polo top and add trainers.
