The Chic Ways French Women Are Wearing the Anti-Skinny-Jean Trend
Skinny jeans might've had a resurgence this year, but French women are wearing a whole other denim trend. Scroll on to see the flare jeans outfits that are making me, and chic Parisians, forget all about their skinnies.

We here at Who What Wear like to talk in great detail (and with much passion) about our jeans. They are one of the hardest-working items in our wardrobes, after all.
We've already touched upon the biggest jean trends we're all wearing for 2025, including '90s baggy styles and barrel cuts. Of course, with wider-leg styles coming back in and the increased interest in bohemian fashion, it only makes sense that flares have returned.
Yes, the '70s silhouette is back, and we've already spotted them on a host of street style leaders as well as on celebrities such as Katie Holmes. Thanks to designers like Balmain, Chloé, Victoria Beckham and Ulla Johnson, leg-lengthening flares are set to be a staple part of our wardrobes this year. We've also noticed that fashionable French women, in particular, have been quick to jump on the trend.
The pinnacle of effortlessly chic, below we're sharing some of the cool ways French girls are wearing the anti–skinny-jean trend right now. Invest in one of the chic pairs below and you'll be wholly on-trend this season and many more seasons to come.
6 Outfits With Flared Jeans French Women Are Wearing Right Now:
1. Button Shirt + Flared Jeans
Style Notes: The coolest way to wear the '70s flaraed silhouette year-round is with a simple chambray button-down shirt. Pair with sandals, trainers, kitten heels or heeled boots, et voilá.

2. Flared Ankle Grazer Jeans + Blazer + Court Shoes
Style Notes: A smart blazer, flared jeans, court shoes and a minimalist bag is the kind of formula you'll never tire of. It may be simple, but it works.
Shop the Look:
Slingback shoes have been our achilles heel (pardon the pun) for months, and court shoes with a block heel are our personal favourite to take us from day to night.
3. Flared Jeans + Strappy Cami Top + Trainers
Style Notes: French women know how to make casual fits look cool. Léna Farouil teamed a strappy cami top with a different kind of flare silhouette as her Levi's are a hybrid between a wide leg and a flared jean. Team with a pair of trainers for a relaxed off-duty daytime ensemble, ballet pumps or kitten heels.

4. White Flared Jeans + Broderie Anglaise Top + Heeled Mules
Style Notes: There is just something about an all white outfit that looks chic, crisp and elegant, or maybe it's because you must be a certain type of person to keep your whites white all day long, which is no mean feat (speaking from experience).
Shop the Look:
5. Flared Ankle Length Jeans + Cardigan + Heeled Mary Janes
Style Notes: When it comes to flared jeans many assume the style has to mean long length, but that's not necessarily the case as Emmanuelle Koffi has proved. We loved (and lived in) ankle length jeans for years, albeit a straight leg cut, but branch out with a flared hem for a fresh take on both denim styles.
Shop the Look:
We can't spotlight a French fashion trend without weaving in the hit Breton top.
6. Flared Low Rise Trousers + Denim Halterneck
Style Notes: Flares are not just limited to denim fabrics, but linen, cotton and silk too. Whether you are heading for a night out, or to the office, you may want flared trousers in a lightweight or flexible material for extra movability and breathability. However, that doesn't mean your look has to be ultra formal, just look to Tamara Mory who teamed her flared trousers with a 90s-inspired denim halterneck for a cool off duty look.

You may have already noticed Polène is the premium French brand those in the fashion know have been turning to - us included. So it's only right we complete an outfit inspired by the French style icons with a French accessory, and we don't just mean a fresh baguette.
