Welcome to The Great Try-On. We're gearing up for fall, and that includes freshening up our wardrobes with some new pieces. We got to try on some of the best fall pieces from some of your favorite brands and documented it all from our own personal "dressing rooms" so that you can see how they actually look IRL. We hope that our photos and candid reviews will help you shop for fall wardrobe builders and trend-forward pieces that you'll wear over and over this season and beyond.
As a Los Angeles resident, I've known local brand Dôen for a long time now. In recent months, however, the label seems to have blown up thanks to high-profile celebrity supporters. Taylor Swift has been photographed wearing Dôen several times recently, as has BFF Selena Gomez. Eagle-eyed fans will also recognize Dôen's ethereal pieces on Kylie Jenner's and Camila Morrone's Instagram accounts.
Having been thoroughly #influenced by these celebrity outfits, I decided to try on Dôen's newest arrivals to see what the hype is all about. I tried on seven pieces in total, including a floral dress, a leather skirt, a printed top, a cozy cardigan, and more.
Dôen Marisa Dress and Demi Riviera Boots
My review: I absolutely love these two pieces separately, but they are even better together. Maxi lengths are very on-trend right now, but rest assured, this dress is very classic as well. For reference, I'm 5'10", and I'm wearing the size medium. The dress is a midweight organic cotton, so I'd recommend layering up if you want to wear this throughout fall and winter. The fabric is super soft and extremely comfortable.
As for the shoes, I think they might become my favorite fall boots. The suede feels luxurious, but the low heel ensures they're still super practical. I was concerned when I saw they didn't have any zippers, but they were actually very easy to pull on and off. I oscillate between sizes 9.5 and 10 and got these in a 10, and they were perfect.

Dôen Agotha Top and Carmella Skirt
My review: I styled this top tucked into an A-line skirt, but I think it looks just as great untucked with jeans. It definitely has a boxy, billowy shape, so if you like fitted pieces, it might not be for you. I'm simply obsessed with the attention to detail on this top, including the ruched square neckline and delicate frill-trimmed sleeves.
The sumptuous suede skirt is a real showstopper. Be warned—it's quite a heavyweight piece, so you might want to wait until the weather cools down to wear it. With its '70s vibe, this skirt looks like it belongs on the set of Daisy Jones & the Six. I got the size medium, and it was slightly tight for me at the waist, so I personally would need to size up. Hot tip: Dôen offers a matching jacket that's equally as beautiful!

Dôen Petra Cardigan and Wyatt Belt
My review: The number one thing I look for in a cardigan is comfort. Itchy sweaters need not apply. Thankfully, this alpaca-blend one is a dream to wear. It's the perfect camel that pairs fantastically with other earth tones. I wear a medium in some other Dôen pieces, but this one was a large, and I'm glad I sized up for a roomier fit. I'm tempted to collect the burgundy and black versions as well.
For some reason, all of my belts are black, so this brown-and-gold one was a very welcome addition to my collection. I adore the round buckle and supple leather construction. All in all, it's a piece that I'll be wearing for years to come.

Dôen Leighton Sweater
My review: As with the Petra Cardigan, I decided to go with a size large for the Leighton Sweater. It's already oversize, so I wouldn't say I had to size up, but I'm glad I did because I love extra-roomy sweaters for fall and winter. This thick, 100% merino wool piece reminds me of traditional Irish Aran sweaters even though this one happens to be made in Peru. It's an investment piece, but it's one that I'll certainly get a lot of mileage out of.
