The Top 5 New Trends Coming Out of London

Although it feels like it just began (just us?), we're already halfway through fashion month. With two cities already under our belt, it's the perfect time to do a bit of reflecting on what we've seen on the runways. While we've already covered the eight trends from NYFW that are sure to be successful come fall, London has its own set of trends to keep an eye out for.

Just as London Fashion Week has no shortage of magical venues, there's never a shortage of fresh trends, thanks to ingenious designers and fashion houses like JW Anderson, Erdem, Petar Petrov, Burberry, and so many more. We closely studied the F/W 20 collections, and while there was some trend overlap with NYFW, there were several standout trends that were particularly prominent in London. And perhaps the best news is that you can start wearing many of them now, long before everyone else catches onto them. Per usual, we're doing our part to help you do so.

While that standby black sheath dress will remain timeless, the classic silhouette will get a modern update as just about every runway heavy hitter showcased fresh LBDs featuring smocking, offbeat necklines, and mixed materials.

An alternative sweetheart neckline and balloon sleeves amp up this versatile Victoria Beckham LBD.

There's nothing basic about this JW Anderson dress with the bubble hem, high neckline, and fluttery sleeves.

The asymmetrical off-the shoulder design and contrasting fabrics push this Preen LBD into a league all on its own.

Tailoring 2.0 will continue to hold strong come fall, with a sharp focus on the new-wave blazer in the London collections. Whether it’s an asymmetrical cut or a belted design, the reimagined blazer will bring that cool polish to any wardrobe.

Similar to the Burberry number above, this Petar Petrov crisscross, tie-detail blazer offered up extra dimension that felt so right.

At A.W.A.K.E Mode, the cropped blazer hit a stride with the addition of loose, assymetrical fabric for enhanced movement.

The wrap-around effect on this electric Burberry blazer brought just the right amount of drama to this tailored look.

In regards to outerwear, capes had the strongest presence adorned over everything from sophisticated turtleneck-and–midi-skirt fits to trouser-and-knit pairings. Basically, this bold trend teams flawlessly with just about anything, so it's about time you try the look.

The coordinating sleeves on this Burberry cape felt different and quite fashion-forward.

Roland Mouret proved the check cape is classic yet incredibly modern.

An eclectic pattern and unexpected feather top perfected this breathtaking Erdem silhouette.

Believe it or not, off-the-shoulder tops and dresses are already back, at least according to the designers that showed at London Fashion Week. As you now, the trend peaked a couple of years ago and took a sharp fall, but the flattering trend was missed by many, and accordingly, designers are busy coming up with fresh ways to bring it back.

Christopher Kane ingeniously opted to mix an off-the-shoulder style with a halter neckline, and we hope to see more of this come fall.

Leave it to Simone Rocha to make an off-the-shoulder dress feel completely elegant and cool again.

Plunging necklines are no longer just for celebrities on the red carpet. The daring trend has hit the mainstream, and the designers that showed their fall collections at London Fashion Week are clearly adept at making the upcoming trend wearable and chic, as you can see.

JW Anderson added a plunging neck to this stunning knit maxi dress, which is exactly what it needed to be completely jaw-dropping.

Thanks to Victoria Beckham and some excellent tailoring, this LBD is anything but boring.

Christopher Kane's graphic tent dress is perfectly balanced out by the deep-V neckline.
