5 Items I'm Buying to Make My Basic Outfits Look Very 2025

My daily outfits are generally made up of a mix of elevated basics that I mix and match together, and often style with one very of-the-moment seasonal piece. When it comes to what I'll be shopping for this year, I've looked at the spring/summer 2025 runways and made a list of some of the more wearable styles that I can incorporate into my everyday outfits and very clearly feel on-trend.
Below, I'm sharing some of the specific pieces I'm planning on buying right now to make my basic outfits look very 2025. From sporty jackets to romantic sheer skirts and cool retro sneakers, take a look below at the pieces worth investing in for the year ahead.
Sporty Jackets
Windbreakers, anoraks, soft shells, and zip-ups are set to dominate in 2025, thanks to a whole host of designers from Miu Miu to Gucci showcasing jackets with a sporty sensibility on the runways. Opt for luxe fits and fabrics and style with everything from feminine dresses to chic tailoring for a cool, contrasting look.
Shop:
Sheer Fabrics
Romantic, soft, sheer, and flowing chiffon and tulle fabrics dominated the runways via skirts, blouses, dresses, and pants in ethereal shades. I'll be giving my outfits a soft filter in 2025 by pairing a sheer skirt with an oversize sweater, or an ethereal blouse with relaxed tailored trousers. These are looks that feel equally sensual and sophisticated.
Shop:
Slim-Fitting Trousers
Skinny pants are stealing the spotlight in 2025. Designers brought forth some chic iterations on narrow tailoring—from slouchy straight-leg silhouettes to cigarette styles as spotted at Miu Miu, Loewe, Sportmax, and Tod's. Expect to see fashion-forward slim-fitting silhouettes on a feed near you.
Shop:
Retro Sneakers
From the runways to the streets, retro-cool silhouettes are everywhere right now and will continue their dominance as we move further into 2025. In the spring 2025 collections, designers such as Miu Miu, Loewe, and Proenza Schouler were all about soft and sophisticated sporty, styles, and on the streets, we've been seeing the fashion set embrace '70s-inspired retro throwback styles like the Adidas Tokyos and Taekwondos, classic Reeboks, and Puma Speedcats.
Shop:
Powder Pink
This year, I'll be embracing soft, feminine, and muted shades of pink which dominated on the runways in pretty fabrications such as satin and organza. Backed by major designers from Alaïa to Khaite, Chanel to Victoria Beckham, expect to see the fashion set add a romantic hue to their outfits come spring.
