Can you believe fall is finally almost upon us? Here at Who What Wear, we’ve been feverishly anticipating the most stylish season of the year, using our content as an outlet for our fashion fix. You’ve likely already read a handful of these articles, covering everything from the outfits we’d like to wear in the coming months to the style mistakes we hope not to repeat. Naturally, however, we can't help but focus the majority of our attention on the trends.
While basics and even some go-to outfits can span seasons (and, in some cases, years) in our outfit rotation, trends and particularly forward looks are changing constantly, and this fall was no exception. Not to worry, though, because as always, we’ve rounded up the most important trends of the season just for you. While I’ve already discussed this only seemingly boring trend and my appreciation for it ad nauseam, I can always find more to say because I’m rather excited about it. By definition, the French word bourgeoisie means middle class, and the trend (which has come and gone countless times over the years) alludes to that but also elevates it through suiting, skirts, shirts, overcoats, and other separates as well as a restrained use of ruffles and heritage prints such as plaid and tartan. With an emphasis on good taste over a reliance on discernible It items, this trend, we hope, is ushering in a new era of what is considered stylish dressing.
A belted jacket not only adds polish to your outfit but also makes layering (which can often get bulky) more flattering by way of some waist definition.
Leave it to Alexa Chung to design the perfect, cool take on a plaid miniskirt that will be so easy to style all season long.
Thought a polo-style knit with the addition of pearl buttons would be overkill? Think again. This sweater is perfect and, frankly, all I want to wear with jeans next season.

You can opt for one at a time or all three at once, and I can pretty much guarantee you won’t get it wrong. Similarly, you can invest in Chanel’s take on the trend or hit up your favorite mall brand, all while achieving a similar effect. Don’t you just love that? Now, the ball is in your court as to how you’re going to make knitwear yours this season.
I know what you’re wondering right now, and yes, the white tank-looking part is, in fact, connected to the sweater. How’s that for easy layering?
Style tip: Wear this dress with another sweater tied over your shoulders or around your waist for a knit-on-knit effect.
Known mostly at one point for her miniskirts and Western boots, Isabel Marant now designs some of the best knitwear every season.
Just one of several items in this roundup that I have already purchased. I plan to wear this cardigan with everything from jeans to a printed miniskirt.
The cardigan is a good start, but may I suggest opting for the affordable belted top and side-slit pants as well? This is one monochrome look that will definitely be far from boring.

Leave it to our friends at Revolve to make a sweater that also doubles as a going-out top. Style it with ecru jeans and strappy sandals for an easy-yet-effective look.
What’s polished, classic, and endorsed by the likes of Gucci, Area, Chanel, and more for F/W 19? You guessed it: houndstooth. Similar to the animal-print resurgence of seasons past, the trend is one you might already have in your closet, and if not, it’s still a worthy investment. Much like what is happening now, it’s due to make a comeback every so often, and when it does, it’s found in all types of pieces. So whether you’re busting out your old treasures or buying new ones, the time to bring back the print is now.

The best way to make any print trend work for the office is usually by way of a polished midi skirt.

From literal interpretations in the form of utility jackets and combat boots to slightly more elusive takes such as a tightly knotted cape or a touch of camo, the runways were rife with references to duty, which tells us that the military trend is very much active for fall 2019. Adding a piece to your go-to jean-and–T-shirt combo or throwing a utility-inspired jumpsuit into your fall layering mix are two surefire ways to tackle the trend, but the opportunities are endless.
I wish, for the sake of my wallet, that I was making this up, but I actually did already purchase this top, too. I just couldn’t wait!

Of course, the trend is backed by plenty of the usual suspects for fun frocks, such as Christopher Kane, Paco Rabanne, and Alessandra Rich, as well as a handful of more unexpected and accessible brands.
Trying to select just one Area item for this section was probably one of the hardest things I’ve had to do all year, but in the end, I opted for these lamé trousers because what is life without party pants?
