Here at Who What Wear, we love to talk about wardrobe classics. Knits, denim, amazing boots...there are some items that are just born to be part of a capsule wardrobe. But on my recent Instagram scroll I discovered that there was one such item that doesn't get nearly as much air time, and that's sweatshirts.

From slogan emblazoned to embroidered logos and vintage washed out vibes to hoodies and cropped silhouettes, it's true that the best sweatshirts come in all shapes and sizes. There's something about a slogan sweatshirt that just instantly pulls a cosy autumn look together. Whether it's the iconic image of Diana running errands around town in her oversized number or the myriad of influencers we've spotted on instagram in slogan styles, the obsession with comfy but chic sweatshirts isn't going anywhere. 

This outfit will look good all year round, just swap the shorts for jet black leggings when the temperature drops. 

Now I don't like to utter the P-word, but there's no denying that since the pandemic, there has been a serious demand for elevated and comfy basics. Now, sweatshirts, leggings, trainers and fleeces are key items in my autumn/winter wardrobe. And I know I'm not the only one, with influencers like Chrissy Ford and Emilie T loving the humble sweatshirt, too.

Luckily for us, both the high street and big name designers have ensured that the slogan sweatshirt choice is endless this season. When choosing a sweatshirt, there are a things I always look out... I always prefer to buy organic cotton as it lasts longer, I double check that it's not dry clean only (what a faff!) and I normally size up to help achieve that slouchy but stylish vibe influencers get so right.
