I'm 57 and Over This Denim Trend, But I'm Telling Everyone to Try These Styles

Fashion influencer Melissa Meyers is filled with shopping and styling tips. While age has nothing to do with what you should or shouldn't wear, her more experienced sartorial point of view at 57 is consistently intriguing. On that note, she recently shared some of the fall items she will and won't wear this season. To expand further, Meyers actually offered up insight into the denim style she's going to be retiring and what she'll be opting for instead. Of course, it's important to remember that you should always wear what you love, despite someone else's personal preferences.
For reference, it's skinny jeans that Meyers won't be wearing as much this season. No, the silhouette isn't going anywhere (it's a classic at this point), but for Meyers, there are other styles she's favoring. She also thinks her new go-tos can really work for everyone given their chic and versatile nature. Keep scrolling for more.
1. Loose-Fitting, Wide-Leg Jeans
On Meyers: Zara jeans, blouse, and shoes; Chanel bag
"As I give my skinny, fitted jeans a rest for now, I'm wearing looser-fitting, wide-leg jeans now for a more modern denim look. I love pairing looser jeans with a half-tucked shirt or a cropped or fitted look on top for balance to define my waistline. There are so many great styles at various price points. You really can't go wrong with this trend."
2. Black Straight-Leg Jeans
On Meyers: Oliver Logan jeans; Zara blazer and boots; Polène bag
"I love the look and feel of black denim for an edgier vibe. Paired with fun boots, a tee, and an oversize blazer, black straight-leg jeans just give such an undeniable statement of cool."
3. Low-Waisted, Loose Jeans
On Meyers: Grlfrnd jeans; L'Academie jacket; Prada bag; Ganni boots; Louis Vuitton twilly; Gucci belt
"Low-waisted jeans are a new/old trend, and it's time to bring them back. Although many of us may not be happy to see it return, the looser fit (vs. painted on from the '80s) is actually quite flattering. These low and loose, distressed jeans by Grlfrnd are super stylish and trendy, especially when paired with a white T-shirt and a cropped statement jacket."
4. Denim Midi Skirts
On Meyers: Mango skirt; Zara jacket; Alohas boots; Ganni bag
"Lately, I've been loving a longer denim skirt as a jeans alternative. This one from Mango has a front slit that feels feminine yet rugged. I've been sporting it with cowboy boots, a crossbody bag, and a cropped leather jacket to complete the look. Perfect casual-chic outfit for fall days."
