Having spent the last month or two keeping track of any and every summer dress that has dropped online, I like to think I've become a bit of an authority on the subject. So trust me when I say that COS's 2021 offering is, so far, leading the charge. This is, however, not a collection for the floral fanatics of the world because, in true COS style, it's all about clean lines, colour-blocking appeal, and a less-is-more approach. Minimalists, this one is for you.
Yes, these dresses might stick to simpler silhouettes, but if anything, this only makes them look chicer (in my humble opinion), and I think this aesthetic restraint is often the key factor in making a high-street item look premium. I have also been impressed by the sheer variety on offer this season. If you're an absolute style purist, you'll be more than content with the monochrome shirt dresses in cool linen fabrics and throw-on-and-go T-shirt dresses. However, if you crave a little colour, then there's plenty to choose from: think vibrant tangerine, acrylic blue, and grass green.
My hero product has to be COS's gathered dress, which comes in both black and green and offers an unusual-ye- undeniably stylish fit via a ruched waistline, high neckline, and flared skirt.
