This week I was sent thousands of street style pictures from New York Fashion Week, and the one thing that immediately struck me was the sheer volume of colour. Autumn tends to be the time of year when people lean on more muted hues, with their wardrobes reflecting the seasonal changes—think the oranges, browns and caramel shades you'll find lining the pavements for the next few months. But this season you're more likely to see a fashion girl in acid green, than pumpkin.
There are two colours in particular that have proved popular with the New York fashion crowd this week—a really bright fuchsia and green, in so many varieties. Eva Chen wore a minty green trouser and top set, while the trend for acid neons only seems to be accelerating. Some wear an accent of glow-in-the-dark green—or you can make like MyTheresa's Tiffany Hsu and wear it head-to-toe.
"Fall winter is no longer just defined by certain shades of black, navy, grey and camel," Net-a-Porter's Elizabeth van der Goltz said at her autumn winter trends presentation. "From Max Mara whose opening looks involved three girls marching down the runway in head to toe saturated bright hues, to Sies Marjan and Ferragamo who kept their color sharp in forms of tailoring. The key colors that we know resonate well with our customers are blue, yellow, orange and most recently neon." For those averse to so much colour, she says the best way to embrace it is through your accessories—they have invested in 125 coral, pink and yellow shoes and bags.

1. Mint Green
Style Notes: Pastels are usually reserved for spring and summer, but Eva Chen is making us want to buy everything we can in this minty green colour.
2. Bright Pink
Style Notes: Pink is one of the most dominant colours of the season—the general rule is the brighter, the better.
3. Acid Green
Style Notes: If this is too much fluoro for you, it is possible to have a more subtle approach to neon, with a tiny flash of acids so you don't look like a human glow stick.
4. Champagne
Style Notes: Despite all this colour, thanks to the Bottega Veneta aesthetic all-beige looks are the go-to for minimalists—champagne silks and satins look really expensive.
5. Grassy Green
Style Notes: Bold green dresses were something of a uniform in New York this week.
6. Buttermilk Yellow
Soft, buttery yellow is becoming one of the most popular Instagram hues of the year—"What started off as a micro-offshoot from last year's omnipresent beige is now bigger business than many might have expected," explains Hannah Almassi, Who What Wear UK's editor in chief.
