I Thought This Jacket Style Was "Out"—Rachel Stevens Just Convinced Me Otherwise

In case the constant weather warnings and relentless downpours haven't quite delivered the message, January has arrived. Whilst the season is synonymous with miserable weather and dark days, it isn't without a few subtle delights; frequent showers bring out the earthy fragrances of nature whilst restoring parched fields to their green glory, and whilst fallen leaves reveal bony, sad-looking trees, their gothic silhouettes are something to behold in themselves.
With fewer hours of sunlight, I'm feeling more and more compelled to spend the rare few light hours January does give us outdoors, but the aforementioned rain frequently gets in my way. However, newly inspired by Rachel Stevens, I think I've finally stumbled across the wet-weather solution that marries functionality with fashion to see me through my winter walks in style.
On Rachel Stevens: Free People Cori Waxed Jacket (£268)
On a nature-filled winter walk, Stevens relied upon a classic (dare I say, old?) wet-weather saviour: a khaki waxed jacket. For its water-repelling qualities, a waxed jacket is the January styling solution that the fashion set has suddenly started wearing. Stevens paired her slightly oversized jacket with blue jeans and chunky black boots. Going for stylish over windswept, the former singer completed her outfit with a chic pair of shades and neatly styled hair.
It's not only Stevens that has me considering this investment; I'm also noticing a fair few influencers swapping their raincoats for the heritage waxed style this winter.
For a countryside-ready coat that's equal parts cosy and stylish, this hardy outerwear
style is the perfect place to start. Complete your wet-weather look with a warm beanie and cashmere scarf, and don't forget your sensible boots.
