The 15 Best Patchwork Jackets and Where to Find Them

I can tell, without looking at the little activity tab on Instagram that tells me how much time I spend on the app, that I spend too much time on the app. That said, if I did stop the scrolling, I might not stumble across gems such as Jess Meany's Instagram account. She's a designer who produces the most beautiful patchwork jackets I have ever seen, amongst other items.

The one-of-a-kind pieces are often pastel hued and are loosely tailored, unstructured jackets that are exactly the kind of garments I'd love to wear this autumn. I could blame the pandemic and our new love of wearing items that are less restrictive, but I actually think there are other elements at play. For a while now, I've been looking for more interesting pieces that I know I'll love for a long time, and Meany's jackets fit that bill. Not only that, she hunts down deadstock, vintage, obsolete, or forgotten materials to ensure that her pieces are as low-impact as possible.

It just so happens that Meany's pieces also hit a major trend, as some of fashion's biggest players have backed this style. Seen at Prada, Ganni, Cecilie Copenhagen, and Loewe, the patchwork trend is getting bigger with each passing season. (It was definitely bubbling up last season, too.) There are some brands that are solely defined by patchwork, such as Bode (worn by Zayn Malik last year) and Rave Review, which uses deadstock to create beautiful garments.
