9 Effortless Outfits I'm Copying Right Now
Sponsor Content Created With ShopStyle
One thing you might not know: ShopStyle is a major resource here at Who What Wear HQ. It's where we all go to find market products for our stories. We can search, say, "cowboy boots" and see basically every decent pair the web has to offer at different price points, from NET-A-PORTER to H&M (and then trigger a sale alert on our faves so we get an email the second they get discounted).
Anyway, I only got savvy to all this and more after sitting next to my work wife/secret podcast host Shaina, with whom I share a mutual love of blazers and general style-sharing—we secretly high-five when we show up at meetings in accidentally matching (and therefore equally awesome) outfits. She worked at ShopStyle before coming to Who What Wear, and while she was visibly appalled I hadn't been using all the perks of the site to my full advantage, she was kind enough to school me. Thanks, Shaina.
As a couple of shameless outfit copiers (or as I like to think of it, "outfit celebrators"), we find it superrrr strange when people take issue with someone buying the same things they have. Greedy, greedy, greedy. As evidenced in my DMs, I'll happily give up the links to anything I'm wearing; I happen to think it's cool to share the love. Spreading the word about a new brand so more people can support it? Beholding unadulterated joy when someone learns that the boots they assumed were $$$$ are actually from Mango (and still available online)? Guys, those are some good feels.
Which is why I'm here to share my shortlist of highly wearable things worth buying this season—basically the purchases I get hit up about the most. And YES, all of them are unashamedly inspired by the outfits of the cool babes I style-stalk on Instagram (all of whom subscribe to this "sharing is caring" belief system and conveniently make their outfits shoppable on ShopStyle). I'm throwing in snaps of the nine influencer outfits that inspired these purchases, plus my picks for high/low options—curated in about two seconds with the help of ShopStyle, obviously—to speak to your current mood for splurging or saving, as the case may be.
PLAID SUITING
As Worn By: Jackie Miranne
The Case: Plaid blazers are my best investment of the past couple of years. Trans-seasonal and highly versatile, they're perfect to match (or clash) with other prints, to throw on over a logo tee and jeans, or to belt over a turtleneck worn with a satin skirt. Personally v. excited to discover the slew of new ways cool girls are reinventing this staple in the seasons ahead.
SATIN MIDI SKIRTS
As Worn By: Kate Ogata
The Case: While at first glance they're a summer staple, silk and satin skirts have proven themselves perfectly matched with chunky knits for the colder months. The result: an effortlessly chic outfit that's office-appropriate, date-appropriate, family-friendly… the whole shebang, really.
LEOPARD-PRINT ACCESSORIES
As Worn By: Lindsi Lane
The Case: Animal print, as we fashion editors have said a hundred times by now, has basically established itself as a neutral at this point. No doubt many of you are still getting serious cost per wear on that satin Reformation midi skirt that sold out 100 times over; as for those of us late to the party, accessories are where it's at, and mules are my number one pick for footwear you'll still be wearing deep into summer 2019.
BRIGHT AND CHUNKY KNITS
As Worn By: Lindsi Lane
The Case: Colorful sweaters brighten up cold months like nothing else, and they're just as good with wide-leg trousers as they are with that aforementioned satin midi. Or jeans. Or a tailored suit. Or leather pants. You get it.
FENDI LOGO-MANIA
As Worn By: Lindsi Lane (I know; it's her third outfit in this story, and I'm not even sorry.)
The Case: Out of nowhere, Fendi rocked back onto our radar this season and announced its throwback infinite "F" print is, once again, the It logo on the block. Shop the new styles, or dig into vintage stock for a more affordable find (select "used" items when searching on ShopStyle to get finds like this wallet from The RealReal).
CHALK-STRIPE BLAZERS
As Worn By: Liezel Esquire
The Case: There's something about a double-breasted chalk-stripe relaxed-fit blazer (especially with big brass buttons) that's equal parts wonderfully gentlemanly, like a ship captain might be, and slightly '80s Wall Street, like I am this season.
WESTERN-INSPIRED BOOTS
As Worn By: Sheryl Luke
The Case: This is hardly news to anyone who's been paying attention, but I'll let you in on one crucial detail you may not have realized (unless you already own a pair). These heels! Super comfortable! Super wet pavement–friendly! I personally rejoice in all practical footwear, cowboy(-ish) boots included.
DAD SNEAKERS
As Worn By: Shelby Grajeda
The Case: Again, I'm the champion of comfortable, practical shoe styles, and for that reason alone, I don't want this trend to end. If you're over the totally OTT styles that are somewhat aggressive ugly, here are a few options that are a little toned down (and start at under-$50).
STATEMENT SHIRTING
As Worn By: Angeline Holub
The Case: Sure, the '80s are a thing right now, meaning we're all a little experimental when it comes to silhouettes, but an interesting spin on a basic white shirt is a super-solid purchase any old season.
