In an effort to stay connected during a time where physical disconnection is the new normal, I reached out to some of my fellow New York editor friends to chat about something a little more lighthearted: spring 2020 trends. While we are all dealing with issues that are much bigger than what we're wearing, I would be lying if I said chatting with all of my friends about exciting new trends didn't bring me joy and I think it's safe to say it did the same for them.

From opera gloves during the day to the return of asymmetrical '90s tanks, the list below is filled with quotes and shopping that are sure to bring a smile to your face. "I love drama in fashion, and I especially love a dramatic accessory! This season, I am most excited about opera length gloves. I've worn them to my wedding and a few parties, but I'm really looking forward to busting them out on casual occasions to liven up an outfit. Will 2020 be the year I wear opera gloves on a date with my husband or on a run to the deli?"

I’m obsessed with the way they edge up a simple garment with a masculine, bad ass feel. Plus, it does most of the accessorizing for me, and reminds me of sweet middle school memories of the chain belt I borrowed from my mom and wore to every school dance."

"I know it's really broad, but for a self-proclaimed maximalist, I actually don't wear many prints. I prefer to add dimension through wearing different textures. But ever since I started experimenting with some good checkerboard-print pieces, I found myself getting excited by how many fun variations of prints there are. I originally had automatically written prints off as just being zebra or cheetah prints, but now I'm convinced we're going to have a print renaissance where designers get really creative with print colors and designs."

"I'm really thrilled about the return of the bandana. I love it because it's the perfect thing to wear to make any bad hair day instantly better. I also think it's more versatile than people think. Sometimes I'll fold mine up and wear it like a normal headband or tie it around my belt loops or bag as an extra accessory. The trend reminds me of vacation and summers with my family in Spain where all the abuelitas wear bandanas in their hair. I'm especially missing Spain these days while working from home, so I can't wait to try out some bandana hairstyles to channel that much-needed spring energy in my apartment."
"I'm trying my best to only shop contemporary brands for investment pieces these days. Luckily, colorful leather is one of my absolute favorite trends for spring, so I have no problem scooping up a structured shirt dress or buttery jacket. Although the colorways are very of the moment, a quality leather piece will always fit with my wardrobe and is something I'll happily wear season after season. Plus, a cheerful pop of color is something I think everyone could use right now."

Once the weather warms up, I plan on sticking to a uniform of the pants, a basic tank or bodysuit, and strappy sandals. Maybe I'll even pick up a coordinating blazer to make it a full outfit."
