I don't know if you've noticed, but Anthropologie is onto something lately. The millennial-favorite brand, which shares owners with Urban Outfitters and Free People, has been quietly rising in the ranks among Gen Z, specifically on TikTok, with one item, in particular, garnering a hefty fan base. The piece in question is a braided satchel by designer Melie Bianco that first went viral on the app at the beginning of 2023 and hasn't slowed down since. Initially, the oversize shoulder bag came in only muted shades. More recently, however, the retailer added a handful of new colorways to its offering, one of which just so happens to be the year's most popular color.
Ever since a fiery shade of red arrived in waves during fashion month in February, the hue has been everywhere: on shoes, dresses, stockings, and more. But really, the best pieces to emerge thus far have been handbags, so when I noticed that Melie Bianco's viral Brigitte Large Satchel was getting more color options, red was the one I had my fingers crossed the tightest for.
