Red-Carpet Suits Totally Outshone Red-Carpet Dresses This Weekend

Moonlight's two leading ladies, Naomie Harris and Janelle Monae, were honored at the 2016 Hollywood Film Awards this past weekend—but that isn't the only thing the two women have in common: Both looked gorgeous on the red carpet in two-piece suits. 

Harris and Monae skipped dress shopping for the occasion and wowed in their ensembles. While Harris went for a metallic statement number by Gucci, Monae went for dramatic in a black-and-white combo that boasted a stunning train. These two ladies proved that the red carpet is the place for bold menswear-inspired separates. Jackets aside, Harris chose to wear a cropped trouser with classic stilettos, and Monae went with a wide-leg fit that balanced the low neckline and dramatic length of her jacket. Both women had winning looks in our book, and we won't be surprised to see blazers become a red carpet staple this season.
