After 12 long months, it’s finally time again for the Met Gala—the biggest night in fashion and a fundraiser for one of New York City's most iconic landmarks. The previous two years focused on everything American fashion, but 2023’s theme shifted to honor the legendary designer, Karl Lagerfeld. Although Lagerfeld was best known for his work as the longtime Creative Director of Chanel, his creations can also be found in the archives of other iconic fashion brands like Fendi, Chloé, Balmain, and more. And for one night—the first Monday in May—they can all be celebrated in one place.
While some attendees chose a more classic route, Kendall Jenner went against the norm, wearing a collared, sequin bodysuit on the ivory carpet instead of pants or a gown. She accessorized with nothing but diamond earrings and sky-high platform boots—how casual. The supermodel's custom Marc Jacobs look alludes to Lagerfeld's signature high-collared shirts, which he famously wore with fingerless, leather gloves and black sunglasses.
