Trust Us—You'll Be Wearing These Jumper Trends All Through Winter

There's nothing quite like a new jumper to make you feel autumnal. After all, what else can instantly transform floaty midi dresses and printed skirts into seasonally appropriate attire? Or can instantly update your jeans and trainers combination? Knitwear has sartorial superpowers that shouldn't be overlooked, which is why we've taken it upon ourselves to introduce you to the top jumper trends 2019 has to offer.
Over the past few weeks, we've seen five jumpers come through as the styles to bookmark. From an unexpectedly chic and totally standout hue to not one but two knits with heritage roots, keep scrolling to see and shop the jumper trends we're poised to wear from autumn all the way through winter and to spring.
1. Green
It's one of those trends that, once we point it out, you'll start to see everywhere. Green jumpers are dominating right now, with a shade sitting somewhere between lime and grass proving to be the most popular. It was even enough to catch the eye of trend trailblazer Monikh Dale, so rest assured it's a sure thing.
2. Mélange
You know us—add a French accent to anything and we're here for it. Mélange basically translates to "mixed" and is often used to describe knitwear with two or more colours. This just so happens to be one of the top knitwear trends of autumn/winter 2019, too. From Baum's oversized, multicoloured option to Samsøe & Samsøe's yellow-and-toffee iteration, look for thick purls to nail the look.
3. Fairisle
One of the two mighty heritage knits to make our shortlist is the Fair Isle knit. Often, it gets a bit of a bad rep for being "ugly," but we think that's what gives it its charm. Evident on the runways of Chanel, Celine and Altuzarra, wear it with a slinky skirt or just a pair of jeans.
4 Argyle
Part preppy Cher Horowitz, part traditional Prince Charles. That's right—argyle knits are back in a big way for 2019, thanks to the likes of Chloé and Preen by Thornton Bregazzi who sent them down the runway with leather skirting and chunky heeled loafers. Geek chic? The epitome of.
