Nonagenarian Iris Apfel is an icon within the fashion industry known for her interior design work at the White House for nine presidents as well as her eccentric personal style, which is marked by her oversized black-framed glasses and bright, wonderfully over-the-top wardrobe.
In June, the 95-year-old announced her first-ever curated ready-to-wear collection (including Iris Apfel–themed emoji!) in collaboration with Macy’s INC International Concepts line, dubbed Iris Meets INC, and to no one’s surprise, the fashion world went crazy over it. Inspired by ’60s mod style, the collection takes a modern approach with updated shift dresses, whimsical prints, and, of course, oversized costume jewelry.

DiCicco Cahue is known for her minimal and sleek style, which is a far cry from Apfel's, but she is inspired by her style nonetheless. "Iris inspires me with the way she carries herself and her positivity," DiCicco Cahue says. "Style is all about self-expression and attitude, which is the epitome of what Iris possesses." The blogger marries her pared down style with one of Apfel's more out-there bangles in her outfit below.
A fitted black dress can be worn so many different ways. Wear the dress with a leather jacket on the shoulders for a cool-girl vibe. If you are wearing the dress to work, you can pair a blazer with flats or pumps for a chic office look.
Like Apfel, Beck has an affinity for loud prints, and she considers Apfel to be one of her true style icons. "A few years back I had the opportunity to meet Iris while I was in New York," Beck recalls. "In addition to being a true style icon and innovator, she's kind, genuine and one of the wittiest people I've met in my lifetime. If I'm even half as chic and as much of a firecracker as she is when I'm that age, I'll consider that a success." Beck is an unabashed fan of Apfel's Oblong Slip-On Bangles that she curated as part of the Iris Meets INC collection, and pairs them with this more demure outfit below.
The number one way I wear my cardigan is with jeans and a lightweight camisole. To dress it up, simply add a pair of heels and a clutch. When it gets cooler out, I’ll pair it with my favorite leather leggings and booties for date night.
Keene is a master of color, so naturally she is a fan of Apfel's loud style. "Wearing these pieces from the collection makes me feel bold and confident," Keene waxes. "And Iris herself inspires me to be bold, think outside of the box, and pair seemingly unlikely color and print combinations."
