Nike Air Max kicks are enveloped in rich history. March, known as the Month of Max, culminates in #airmax day on March 26, when fans around the world are encouraged to wear their Air in celebration of the 29th anniversary of the cult shoe. With the sneaker trend here to stay for yet another season, we tapped Eleanor Pendleton to explore how to style the Air Max in a fresh, elevated way—i.e. how we'll be wearing our kicks this autumn. Enter: relaxed suiting, cropped flares, a '90s slip dress and an inherently cool attitude.
A collector's item for sneaker heads, the heritage shoe is celebrated for both its spirited design and innovative construction—it was the first shoe to use visible air as a cushioning system. Hundreds of iterations later, the Air Max is a prominent fixture in streetwear culture, owing to its past ties to film directors, cartoonists, musicians and artists alike.
