I recommend picking up a classic Stella McCartney or Helmut Lang—designer versions are worth the investment and can last a lifetime.
2. Slingbacks
The shoe style of the moment—perfect for both brunch and drinks in the evening. Manolo Blahnik and The Row are where I head to buy these. Thanks to them being on trend again, you'll find them almost everywhere.
3. High-Waisted Trousers
They're my go-to trousers that suit everyone and never go out of style. My personal choice of fit is a wide leg—Fonnesbech currently has a great pair in khaki that is perfect for spring, and I head to Joseph and Ellery for classic black and navy pairs. You'll get endless amounts of wear from any of these neutral colours.

3. Go-With-Everything Ankle Boots
These can be worn all year round and are an especially great for transitioning from winter to spring/summer. Topshop has a great selection of ankle boots in a range of heel heights. I head to Acne for classic styles, and the more niche label, Dorateymur, specialises in on-trend styles that can "make" a look. 5. A Tailored Overcoat
An overcoat is essential for the British weather, and when I want to pull a look together, I always rely on tailored pieces. I keep one with me on standby for if the weather changes or it—inevitably—gets cold in the evening. A coat in this country is always worth the investment since it gets so much use! I swear by Burberry and Céline.
