If you plan on dressing up for Halloween this year, then you're part of the statistic making this holiday one of the most popular among Americans. According to the National Retail Federation, consumer spending has grown 12 percent year-over-year for the past decade, and it's about to reach even higher numbers in 2016. "This year, it is predicted to reach an all-time high of $8.4 billion, up from $3.3 billion in 2005."
Apparently, we Americans take the holiday seriously, because a huge chunk of the country will be in costume come October 31 and we're also willing to splurge on the ensembles. "Consumer participation is increasing too: more than 171 million Americans—almost 70 percent of the population—are predicted to celebrate Halloween this month, spending an average of $82.93 each," notes Business of Fashion. While the average is under the triple-digit mark, $83 is a good chunk of change in our opinion, and we're willing to bet celebs like Heidi Klum go well beyond this average. Then again, Halloween isn't for everyone, and if it's not for you, keep scrolling to shop fall dresses under $83 or shop costumes that are under $30.
