I think we can legitimately pass this week off as autumn boot weather. I love my strappy sandals as much as the next Zara shopping fiend, or my comfy Tevas as much as every other editor in the Who What Wear UK office, but the Met Office app has spoken, and new boots are the order of the day.
The past month has marked a turning point for our go-to high-street stores entering the new season. Suddenly, autumnal prints and colours were in stock, more luxurious, less flimsy fabrics were being added to the new-in sections, jackets were starting to filter through and (our weakness) the footwear offering was skewing towards close-toe styles and boots.
Even knee-highs and over-the-knees are appearing, which you may not feel ready to invest in quite yet, but the early shopping bird catches the most stylish worm, and we're only here to give you that heads-up.
