Rachel Stevens and I Have the Same Jeans—They're Perfect for Petite People

In the past few weeks, I seem to have taken on the epic one-editor mission to provide petite women with the best stores and exact pieces suited to their stature. It's not easy shopping when you're 5'3'' or under, and I'm absorbing the hard graft in order to save short people time and hassle this year (and for as long as possible). Who What Wear has helpful tips on styling tricks and outfit combinations to consider when you're short, autumn's most directional trends for fashion enthusiasts who don't have height on their side, the best petite midi dresses for the season and my latest two pairs of high-street trousers that are a perfect fit, among more. However, today we're going to talk jeans and specifically one particular pair of jeans that a very reputably stylish short lady—Rachel Stevens—and I have in common.
On Rachel Stevens: Ganni Betzy Jeans (£175); Prada Bag; Celine shoes
We often look to Stevens due to her keen eye for expensive-looking affordable fashion finds and her chic capsule wardrobe. You could consider the celebrity to have minimalistic taste, but it's interesting she has chosen Ganni's somewhat left-field lilac zebra-print jeans as part of her autumn line-up. They are pretty jazzy as far as jeans go, which might explain why I bought the first butter-yellow-and-black version last summer, as my wardrobe is, in general, quite loud.
I knew I liked the look of them online, but it was only when I zipped them up that I realised how fantastic they were. Printed jeans can be wildly unflattering, and I was expecting to send these right back, but there's something magical about the cut and pattern combined that make this pair surprisingly easy to wear. There is a little bit of stretch in the denim, which allows for a more comfortable fit, and although I'm certain that I'm a good couple of sizes bigger than Stevens, the fit around the waist, the break on the knee and the hem length work for us both.
On Hannah Almassi: Gant shirt; Ganni jeans; Teva sandals
The specific style I'm talking about is called the Betsy or Betzy (Betsy appears to be the same silhouette but in plain washes; Betzy is the more attention-seeking cousin in vibrant prints). For the autumn season, you'll find Betzy in leopard print (an iteration I'm quite tempted to buy based upon how much wear I've already gotten out of the zebra) as well as the more subdued Betsy in plain indigo or black denim. Following? Okay! In essence, even if you aren't into statement jeans, you can still enjoy the great fit of these in a classic colour.
FYI: I went for my normal size, and there was no need to change. I often find that jeans gape at my waist when they fit around my thighs and bum but these do not. You could take an inch or so off the hem (as I have in the photo above) if you wanted to have more of an ankle-grazer silhouette, but you could easily leave them long as Stevens has to wear with heels or chunky-soled boots.
