I've Been Wearing My J.Crew Rollneck Sweater Every Day—Here's What I'm Wearing With It to Look Chic in NYC

I recently got one of the new J.Crew Rollneck sweaters—a revamp of its 1988 version—and it's very quickly become my new favorite. When I first unboxed it at the office, senior fashion editor Eliza Huber mentioned she'd just gotten the Ivory color and had been wearing it nonstop. I didn't think much of it at the time, but now I fully understand why.
I'm currently on my third day in a row wearing it (I have it on as I write this), and I'm already considering buying another color. If you want to look put together without trying too hard, it's the perfect sweater.
On Sunday morning, I threw it on to spend a few hours popping around my neighborhood—getting coffee, going to breakfast, walking around. The weather in New York has been in that sweet spot lately: still relatively warm for October but with just enough chill in the air to justify a sweater. Here's the exact outfit formula I've been loving wearing it with.
Rollneck, Capris, & Ballet Flats
The past few weeks, I've been reaching for capris constantly. My most-worn right now are from Aritzia, Imnotamorningperson, and Geel. I’ve been justifying getting any new pairs by telling myself that anything I buy now—before it gets too cold—will transition into spring.
The outfit formula I’ve been loving lately is: Rollneck, capris, and Camper's Casi Myra ballet flats. While wearing this combination, I thought of Ailie Smith, who I follow on TikTok. She’s a mom whose wardrobe is practical yet interesting—comfortable and easy to move in, but still chic and intentional. That's what I've been finding myself gravitating toward lately.
