Calvin Klein's '90s Collections Will Always Be My Blueprint for Fall Dressing

Calvin Klein just debuted its S/S 26 collection during this September's New York Fashion Week, a highlight for many editors (myself included) who admire simplicity. Known for elegant, timeless pieces in a neutral color palette, the brand has always been rooted in pared-back chicness.
One of the key references I always come back to in my own style is '90s minimalism, and Calvin Klein played a huge role in defining that effortless approach to dressing.
To this day, the fall 1994 show ends up on my mood board year after year. The label mastered that understated anti-aesthetic, proving that sometimes elevated basics are all you really need.
Here are a few of my favorite outfit formulas from CK's archives—perfect inspiration for fall.

Based on the fall/winter 2025 runways, argyle tights will be a trend this season, but the print was big in the '90s too. I love how they make a simple little black dress feel instantly more interesting.

I could wear turtlenecks every single day once it gets cold. While I already own multiple in black and one in red, this photo has me wanting a white one styled with a gray skirt.

For years, this Kate Moss look from the Calvin Klein fall 1994 show has continuously shown up on my Pinterest feed. I love the pleated miniskirt paired with over-the-knee socks and white Mary Janes.

A knit polo top paired with a knee-length skirt is a straightforward way to look put-together. This formula works in any palette, but I like this particular tonal color combination.

The most simplistic choice: an all-black look consisting of nothing more than a long-sleeve dress and crisscross ballet flats.

You can't go wrong with a classic coat worn with a black dress, tights, and patent-leather flats.

I live in tights through fall and winter, so having a colorful option feels fun. Style them with an oversize sweater, a coordinating plaid skirt, and knee-high boots.

No fall collection feels complete without a trench coat. I'm envisioning this with the Rue Sophie Balham Trench Coat and High Sport Kick Cropped Stretch-Cotton Flared Pants.
