My Vibe Is "Paris After Dark"—6 Elegant Going-Out Outfits From French Women I'm Trying

Between knowing just how much you all love to peep French style and knowing that you are very likely in the midst of a slew of end-of-year events, well, it just makes good sense to round up a series of chic going-out looks, as seen on some of my favorite French fashion follows. In typical Parisian style, these looks feel cool yet classic, elegant but not fancy, and include some of this winter’s go-to fashion items that might already be residing in your wardrobe.
So if you’re like me and find it extremely tempting to cancel plans when it’s this cold out, perhaps the energy of a great outfit is just the motivation we need to go to that holiday party after all? Whether you’re in the market for something elegant to wear on New Year’s Eve or just a classic "going-out outfit" that makes you feel like a million Euros, these six looks are here to inspire your evening style this winter.
We love variations on a theme, and chic black evening looks is the order of the day. This on-trend sheer skirt feels effortlessly dialed back paired with a belted turtleneck, tights, and boots.
You know a look is good when you can insert it into any decade of the last century, and it works. You can check several key items off your elegance checklist: Faux-fur coat? Pearl necklace? Leather opera gloves? Check, check, check.
If you're wondering whether sheer tops are trending as well as skirts, let this look be your answer. The barely there fabric feels especially chic when unexpectedly paired with the weight and texture of a twill skirt.
When you find a crystal-embellished dress that's this much of a showstopper, all you need to add for a Parisian vibe is a red lip and black accessories.
When you're in the mood for a chic look that's secretly extremely cozy and comfortable, a belted turtleneck knit dress with a low kitten heel is right on the money. An east-west bag dials up the trendiness.
One more perfect look from Sylvie Mus because I can never get enough of her easy, elegant style. I own and love this fantastic knit peplum top from The Frankie Shop, but it's almost sold out—moral of the story is, when it comes to chic party outfits, don't sleep on peplum styles with longer skirts this season.
