Lately on the Upper East Side in New York, one thing has become clear: Jewelry has surpassed bags and clothes as the most collectible investment. A string of new fine-jewelry boutiques have been popping up on Madison Avenue as the area is redefining itself as a shopping destination, only further cementing the neighborhood as a hub for jewelry shopping. London-based jeweler Jessica McCormack is one of the latest brands to open up a brick-and-mortar store in the area, reflecting the popularity of the brand in the area.
There is a subset of very specific jewelry designers that all of the most stylish people are wearing and coveting. In particular, there's a new wave of young designers who are defining what fine jewelry looks like today. Sophie Bille Brahe's fine jewelry is designed in Copenhagen. The founder takes inspiration from the ocean and the night sky with designs that include swirling waves that resemble a wave in motion and earrings that mimic clusters of stars.
