Egyptian Magic Cream Is the All-in-One Balm That You Need

Skincare enthusiasts seem to fall into two camps: the extremely knowledgeable alchemists who know their hyaluronic from their glycolic acids and the all-natural purists who prefer products made from untampered ingredients. I tend to fall somewhere in-between. Recently, in a toss-up between new moisturisers this winter, natural product Egyptian Magic Cream (£20) came out on top.

While I can’t say how I first stumbled on the balm, its name was distinctive enough for me to take notice. Admittedly, Egyptian Magic Cream doesn’t receive the same social media love as other millennial-focused brands. It’s not aesthetic by today’s standards. Blame Instagram, but packaging plays a huge part of my skincare decision process. And yet Egyptian Magic Cream is more about substance than style. It’s described as an "all-in-one miracle balm” and can be used as a moisturiser, a lip balm, and even a healing ointment for stretch marks and much more.

Apparently, Egyptian Magic Cream is "based on a formula that was created thousands of years ago in the land of the Pharaohs.” It certainly feels classic and reminds me of the home-spun products my mum and grandparents swear by—passed-down potions made from natural ingredients which exist solely to heal and soothe. It’s made with all-natural ingredients, including olive oil, beeswax, bee pollen, and royal jelly, and it works.

My skin (normal/combination) drinks this thick balm up. After three months of using it, my skin texture is visibly smoother and brighter, and makeup applies like a dream. Please be wary that this is a heavy-duty cream, and a little goes a hell of a long way. For this reason, I use it at night as the last step in my winter skincare routine. I would be a little more tentative if I had oily skin.

I make sure to try to use EMC for all its uses. I apply it to my cracked hands (2020 handwashing) and lips, and I even use it to slick my eyebrows.
