These 5 Nail Colours Feel a Little “Dated”, According to Beauty Editors

I want to start this article by saying that I do not advise buying into every single beauty trend there is. Yes, I like to write about them and fill you in on the most popular nail colours, haircut trends and makeup looks of the season, but that doesn't mean that I think you need to try these things to look or feel good. Instead, I truly believe in doing what suits you and wearing whatever nail polish, lipstick or hair accessory you want, regardless of what's "in" or "out".

Having said that, as a team of fashion and beauty editors, a lot of us have opinions on trends (naturally), both past and present, as we're constantly keeping our eyes out for the next big thing. Because of this, I was interested to learn what the team thought about this season's most popular nail colours and the ones they won't be bringing into 2024 with them.

As it turns out, there are quite a few nail shades that some of the Who What Wear UK editors feel have become a little "dated". Lilac nails were so popular last year, and I can totally understand why—they're so pretty. As much as we love this pastel shade, this season, there's another vying for our affections.

According to the team, we're swapping frosted pink nails for baby pink manicures this season. Don't get me wrong, I love a frosted finish, but as I work on building my capsule wardrobe, there's no denying that baby pink shades will compliment a lot more of my outfits thanks to the soft hue. Plus, this timeless nail colour will never go out of style.

This trend has been seen on the likes of Hailey Bieber and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and if it's good enough for them, then it's definitely good enough for us. I love that it's subtler than chunky glitter designs, as it makes it more wearable on a day to day basis.

I used to wear white nails every single summer, but this year, I'm going to switch things up and try white French tips instead. All of us agree that French tips are back in a big way for 2024, as they fit perfectly with an elevated minimal aesthetic.
