Come winter, a coat is arguably the most essential addition to your wardrobe. When cold weather hits, a duvet-like puffer or longline wool coat is what you need. Investing in the right one is especially important because A) you'll end up wearing it on a daily basis, and B) outerwear is expensive. Expensive, but non-negotiable.
While some of the designer iterations out there are achingly beautiful (I'm looking at you, Toteme), the whole Who What Wear team has been so impressed by the high street's current offering. So, we set a strict budget and created an edit of noteworthy coats that cost £300 or less. Yes, that's still a lot of money, but we want to ensure the quality and longevity are there —you don't have to splash four figures to find a coat that lasts, but it might be worth spending a little more than you would on other items. That being said, the styles we've included in our it-list start at just £75.
