Autumn trends arguably are some of the most exciting of all, so we asked you earlier in August which fall trends you’re most looking forward to. Velvet, possibly the season’s most sought-after trend, will be that key fabric you see everywhere. But to avoid overdoing it, implement it in small doses. According to Gonzalez, you “shouldn’t stay away from the trend because it may be a thicker fabric; try it with accessories like shoes or pants.”

Wine-hued velvet pants are an ideal way to test the waters, and they won’t have you looking overly trendy.

Gonzalez’s advice is to “mix similar fabrics to create a layering effect; try to find jumpers in similar colors to pair with the coats.” She adds, “My style secret for this is leaving the jacket open so it almost feels like an inner linen fabric inside of the coat.”
