Angelina Jolie Just Wore the #1 Coat-and-Trouser Pairing for Winter

For some celebrities, it's easy for them to lose their sartorial identities, especially when they have stylists making requests to dress them in the most trend-led pieces—cult items of the moment, if you will. Angelina Jolie, however? She's perhaps one of the most classic dressers in Hollywood. The actor consistently steers clear of anything flashy or standout, instead preferring to lean on a capsule of elevated basics, often in neutral hues. I have a photographic memory when it comes to celebrity outfits, and hand on heart, I can only think of a couple of times when Jolie has deviated from this rule. Her latest outfit, which she wore out in L.A. this week, was very much on-brand, consisting of a beige coat, puddle pants and neutral court shoes.
What initially caught my eye was her coat—a sublime wool robe coat complete with a rather practical hood. You could, however, argue that a hood is somewhat redundant in L.A., but that's neither here nor there. As an aside, I was struck by just how versatile a coat choice hers is; a neutral robe that would live quite happily in my wardrobe for a very, very long time. Pairing it with the year's trouser silhouette to note, puddle pants, this look strikes the perfect balance of being completely and utterly timeless, whilst also appeasing the current fashion mood. Well played, Jolie. While her taupe round-toe court shoes will raise some eyebrows in the industry—it might shock you to learn that beige-tone pumps are divisive in style circles—on Jolie, they make sense.
